Last year, the Urban Development Authority received requests to purchase lands from developers, with a total of 480 plots of land about 2,209 acres.
In addition to the sale proceeds of these lands, there are development returns resulting from the establishment of these projects, as they will provide more than 150,000 direct and indirect job opportunities for the establishment and operation of these projects.
The Minister of Housing, Assem Al-Jazzar, revealed that there are 18 projects in the partnership system between the New Urban Communities Authority and real estate developers on an area of 24 thousand acres with a total investment of one trillion pounds and providing 21. million job opportunities.
He continued, “The fourth generation cities were also established for several goals, including encouraging investment in the country, activating the movement of the real estate market, improving services and preserving the environment.”
It is expected that the new cities will accommodate more than 30 million people after the completion of their construction
It is noteworthy that investments in fourth-generation cities vary between government and private, as government investment in fourth-generation cities currently represents about 70% of the total investments, and 30% are private investments represented in service lands that companies buy and build on, including schools, hospitals, and private housing projects.
He added that the construction process in new cities recently faced many challenges, perhaps the most important of which is the Corona pandemic, which reduced working hours and disrupted the construction process in all sites in the last period.
Regarding the role of the authority in achieving urban development in Egypt, the authority was set up for the purpose of urban development throughout the republic and since its inception it has been able to establish about 60 serious cities through which it has provided adequate and decent housing, job opportunities and service activities in addition to contributions to the organization and development of the real estate sector in partnership with the private sector
